Soho Turns Ashes into Art

A visual story of how local creatives express their feelings towards the black lives matter movement and the fight for justice.

After the chaos and looting that took over the nation in the past few weeks, it’s no surprise that NYC, the fashion capitol of the world, was one of the biggest targets. Although it was a bit hard to watch as a New Yorker, I knew we’d recover and come back strong. The bigger picture is that we, as a unit, demand change and will not stop responding with action until we see it.

I decided to take a little stroll through the soho streets to see the aftermath. What I saw was absolutely inspiring.

Art completely covered the streets as local artists and creatives filled the boarded up windows with murals, and expressions of the black lives matter movement. Swipe to see these amazing and powerful works of art by nyc artists:

The strength and genuine love for our city when we come together is truly a beautiful sight to see. There is beauty and art in every thing surrounding us depending on how you look at it.

Are you supporting the movement but not sure what the next step is to help in your community? Check out my blog on how to help small local black and minority owned businesses during a pandemic.

Let’s help each other and change the world.
