To be a woman from the beautiful city of New York, the fashion capitol of the world, NYFW has always been a dream! I’ve always imagined what it’d be like getting to attend an an official fashion show for a powerhouse brand that I idolize.
I just picture myself sitting somewhere on the sideline of a runway, dressed to the nines next to Anna Wintour, Rihanna and top fashion models who’s names I can barely pronounce. Just you and your idols, sharing the same love and admiration of couture fashion and its unique craftsmanship. You know, no big deal.
Well, there is only one real problem with that.
What the hell to wear?! I can just imagine my room filled with piles of under-qualified clothing, rummaging through my closet and drawers looking for the perfect outfit. Ideally, my closet would be filled with articles of clothing the world hasn’t already seen, and things I don’t keep in the “Idk why I ever bought this, I hate it… but you never know” pile.
If I’m being honest, the perfect outfit doesn’t exist in our wardrobe without a little creativity and thinking outside the box. Whether its a designer piece, or a thrift store find, you can create something thats totally you with just a tad bit of inspiration and some personal touches.
I love mood boards because it really helps you envision what look you’re going for, what you like/don’t like, and how to pull it all together. You can apply this to almost anything, from redecorating your kitchen to sketching out your dream home like the one I posted here.
Mood boards, or wishlists, are also great manifestation tools that we should all use to keep us inspired, and it’s actually really fun!
In honor of this past week’s NYFW festivities, I wanted to share some fashion inspired wardrobe pieces and looks I’ve been feeling from some of my favorite brands.
Disclaimer: There’s a lot of black. Shocker? It’s a New York thing.
